Chairs are one of the few things that most people like and appreciate. You might be thinking that it must be one of the stupidest thoughts to think that we should even make a big deal out of chairs. But whether you like it or not, chairs play a big part in our lives. Not only do we get the basic need from chairs, there are also added benefits that one can get from chairs and other types of chairs alike. With the passing of time, even chairs have evolved and changed and are still improving up until now. So the question is, why did man invent chairs?
The Obvious Answer
Swivel Counter Stools
The most usual answer one would give to that question would be because we need something to sit on. But way back in time and history, man did not need chairs. In fact, even now, we could even afford not to use chairs. Most of us do it all the time - from having no chairs in picnics or even in school. What we do is what the first man did - sit on the ground. But then again, maybe the old cave man's chair was his rock. We'll never know.
In some countries, chairs don't even exist. For example, in most homes of Japan, people sit on the floor when eating. Even the guests are treated equally and are not offered a chair. In areas like the old Africa and Nepal, some people sit on the earthen floor.
Added Uses of Chairs
We can't help it if man was smart enough to invent the chair. As time passes, more and more chairs are made for various reasons - some for sitting, others just for home design. You may see some chairs that don't even make sense. And the best part it, unlike in the olden times, chairs now come in different shapes, sizes and colors. Some don't even seem like real chairs. From chairs in restaurants to cushions used as chairs to chairs used as stools, whatever chair you want, man now has it. And if it's not yet here, then man will invent it. Let's admit it, we can even use chairs as a small table, something to stand on, a prop for a play, and even something to throw at your husband.
Whatever and however you see and use a chair, its identity and purpose serves us all to make our life a little easier.
